Forecasting in itself is of no value. It's a means to an end. And the 'end' is driving the business to make better decisions, and execute harder and faster. As frequency of forecasting increases, the marginal benefit to the business erodes faster than the effort required to produce that forecast. Forecasts are important, to a point. Don't overindulge. Last week I had the privilege of attending the 2024 Games for Change Festival at the Parsons School of Design - The New School in New York. The event was an inspiring 2+ days of impactful talks, workshops, and community building featuring over 150 speakers from 12 countries. The G4C Awards Ceremony highlighted creativity, innovation, and powerful storytelling in recognizing the best social impact games and XR experiences of the year. Winners were announced in 12 categories from a field of over 300+ submissions from 53 countries. That's 300+ games for change that were: 🌍 Addressing real-world challenges 🧑⚕️ Improving people's lives 🏛️ Driving social change 🎓 Serving as critical tools in humanitarian and educational efforts 🧠 Inspiring learning 🧑⚕️ Encouraging empathy 💥 And/or making a difference As G4C's newest member of the Board of Directors I was honored to present the newest award, Best in Environmental Impact, to FableVision. Their game, The Plastic Pipeline, was designed for players to save our oceans by sleuthing out policies that can plug pollution along the plastic pipeline. Many incredible partners made all of this possible including Verizon, Hasbro, Xsolla, Entertainment Software Association, Unity, New York City Dept. of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), Google Play, Netflix, Discord, Department of Interactive Media at the University of Miami, Schell Games, Onassis ONX, NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, and HyperX. Congratulations to Susanna Pollack and the team for their incredible work. 👏👏👏 #G4C2024 #socialimpact #dogood #nonprofit #thankyou

Pictures that say 1,000 words. #TGCFO approved 💚 In summary: ✅ Be kind, not just helpful.  ✅ Culture eats strategy for lunch. ✅ Your Staff are the real experts at what’s going wrong.  ✅ Micromanagers think they help… they often do the opposite.  ✅ Take charge but only to quickly empower and get out of the way.  #leadership #management #thegoodcfo

Did you know that Belgian Draft Horses are one of the best examples of teamwork? These majestic creatures weigh between 2,100 and 2,300 pounds and when fully grown, are capable of pulling 8,000 pounds. But when they know each other and train together, a team of two can combine their efforts and pull up to 32,000 pounds, that's 4x what they can do alone! This is a great illustration of the power of teamwork and collaboration and the importance of building strong relationships and trust within a team. As the Idea Hall team gathers together from Nashville, Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Diego to work together at our Orange County headquarters this week, let's remember the lessons of these incredible animals and strive to achieve more together than we ever could alone. #teamwork #collaboration #leadership #businessgrowth #EOS

🌟 Introducing Our Founders 🌟 After working together at Column Five, World of Dance and numerous projects since 2011, it was just a matter of time before Matthew Everitt and Vincent T. Nguyen joined forces. Both are deeply passionate about continual improvement, humanistic leadership, and making a mark. Vince may type faster (130 WPM last we checked!), but Matthew claims to have the edge in Excel wizardry (Vince may disagree). What they do agree on is striving to embody the CFO of the future: someone who is not just a financial expert, but a holistic leader, an ethical compass, a people's champion, and a systems thinker. They’re excited to be building The Good CFO together, supporting exceptional people and organizations. #Leadership #CFO #TheGoodCFO
