About us

We are committed to supporting organizations led by those most impacted by systemic oppression – largely low-income communities of color. The Libra Foundation’s guiding principle is that those who are closest to the issues understand those issues the best. They are not only the most equipped to build solutions, they are the most effective at implementing those solutions. We focus on frontline organizations led by people of color transforming the criminal justice system and advancing environmental and climate justice and gender justice. @thelibrafound

Today we launched the Action for Transformation Fund, led by Transgender Law Center and Emergent Fund, a pilot initiative that will move resources to trans-led organizing, healing, and power-building efforts. As its inaugural director, I wanted to share that so much love was poured into creating this fund. This was a collective effort to meet this moment and show up for our communities. I extend deep gratitude to Shelby Chestnut, Alicia Sanchez Gill, MSW, Bianca Nozaki-Nasser, Meera V, Sue Yacka-Bible, Song Hà Pham, Mickaela Bradford, Angela Vo, and others, whose leadership, vision, and care were instrumental in making this fund a reality. I invite you to learn more about the Action for Transformation Fund, share the press release, and spread the word that applications are now open: https://lnkd.in/ejq4xEr8 For inquiries, you can email me at aldita@emergentfund.net Si desea ésta información sobre el Fondo de acción para la transformación en español, envíeme un mensaje a aldita@emergentfund.net por favor. “We know folks are pumped up right now, I just think that this has moved people in a different way. We're just going to continue to harness that, not only over the next couple of weeks but through Election Day.” –Alexis Anderson-Reed, State Voices CEO In 2024, the State Voices network is excited for the opportunity to harness the power of nonpartisan civic engagement and education to achieve the real, multiracial and fully representative democracy that our communities deserve. It’s not about individual candidates or party politics. It’s about empowering communities with the tools they need to #VoteForSomething that matters. https://lnkd.in/eVvJc2Hr
