Storytelling is the heartbeat of Latinx culture, woven into every folktale and family legend passed down through generations. It is more than tradition — it’s a tool of empowerment, challenging the harmful narratives that seek to dehumanize people of color. By sharing our stories, we invite young people of color to reclaim their heritage and write their own future. Let’s continue this tradition, using storytelling to inspire, uplift, and disrupt dehumanization. Discover how our Disrupting Dehumanization framework can help make a difference at themoriahgroup.com. We are always deeply grateful for Native Americans in Philanthropy’s contributions to the philanthropic space, including educational posts like this. Using correct terminology is critical to disrupting dehumanization. Reposted from Native Americans in Philanthropy's page: Native American? Native? Indigenous? Because terminology for Indigenous people is complex, personal, and nuanced, it is crucial to center Indigenous voices when learning how to respectfully reference Native nations and Indigenous communities. This includes understanding the differences between names Indigenous people claim for themselves, and the ones given to them by a broader culture.
