Hoe faciliteer je een gesprek over omgevingskwaliteit? Hoe denk je met elkaar na over de toekomst van erfgoed - met het oog op klimaatverandering? #THETIDA Project ⚡️Completion of activities at the underwater excavation of #Nissia shipwreck❗🌊 Over the course of the #excavation, led and directed by the Maritime Archaeological Research Laboratory of the University of Cyprus, our interdisciplinary team had the opportunity to: 🔍 Try out, for the first time, a #hyperspectral camera, to record the deterioration imprint of wood preserved underwater 👉 provided by our partners at National Technical University of Athens. 🧪 Collect #samples of biological material formed on exposed #archaeological finds to determine their biodeterioration rate 👉 with our partner’s assistance at Università degli Studi di Padova. 🛠️ Test cutting-edge technology #sensors including an underwater sensor, a boat sensor, and wearable tech, to assess the environmental factors that influence the #preservation of natural and cultural #heritage 👉 developed by ICCS - NTUA . 📢 Explore new public engagement #strategies to spark discussions and raise #awareness about protecting and #safeguarding underwater cultural heritage sites. 🌊 Underwater photos by Andrei Kolesnikov and Andrea Kazamia❗ #UnderwaterArchaeology #CulturalHeritage #NissiaShipwreck #THETIDA #LivingLabs #CMMI THETIDA

#THETIDA Project: Technologies and methods for improved resilience and sustainable preservation of #underwater and coastal #cultural #heritage to cope with climate change, natural hazards and environmental #pollution 📣More exciting news❗ For the first time, guided visits at #NissiaShipwreck site took place last week. 🌊 💡Representatives from #diving centres of the area, interested to learn more about the #shipwreck and its history, were welcomed at the #LivingLabs organised in the framework of the project. ⛴🛟 💡Guests had the unique opportunity to learn more about the procedures undertaken in an #underwater excavation and also visit the site during its #excavation that was directed by the University of Cyprus. ⚓️🤿 💡This experience sparked discussions on the #protection and #preservation of underwater cultural heritage, preparing the ground for further #dialogue with the local diving community in the future. Thetida Team was at the Researchers' Night in Greece that took place at the premises of the National and Technical University of Athens on the 27th of September 2024! ICCS researchers presented the work done in the project including the underwater sensors!

📣 Dive into the Equa shipwreck with THETIDA! Throughout the summers of 2023 and 2024, THETIDA partner IANTD (International Association of Nytrox and Technical Divers) conducted many dives at the Equa, the WWII shipwreck being studied as part of the THETIDA project. During the expeditions, partners collected a wealth of images and videos that you can now discover in this captivating and informative video.
