Domestic violence isn’t always easy to recognize, especially when it goes beyond the physical. It comes in many forms, and understanding these is the first step toward getting help or helping someone else. • Physical Violence: This is the most visible form, including hitting, slapping, choking, or any kind of physical harm. It’s not “just a slap”—any form of physical harm is serious. • Sexual Violence: Any forced or coerced sexual contact without consent is sexual violence. Even in relationships, consent must always be given and respected. • Psychological Violence: Often harder to spot, this includes intimidation, manipulation, and threats designed to control or scare the victim. It’s a slow erosion of someone’s sense of safety. • Emotional Abuse: This form of abuse damages the victim’s sense of self-worth through constant criticism, humiliation, or controlling behaviors. It leaves deep, invisible scars. If you or someone you know is facing any of these forms of abuse, know that there is help available. The Turning Point is here to provide support and resources for survivors of all types of domestic violence. For support, reach out to The Turning Point at www.theturningpoint.org or call our office at 972.985.0951. Our 24-Hour Crisis Hotline is also available at 800.886.7273. #StopDomesticViolence #SupportSurvivors #TheTurningPoint
