📑 Read more about our Chairman, Robert Vanman, and “How a need for speed led to solving Burundi’s water crisis” in this great article from our friends at the National Christian Foundation! Amazi Water is grateful for ministry partners who have a heart for people in need of safe, clean water in the world’s poorest country.
Robert Vanman had a nickname in high school: Robbie Radar. He loved fast things, and this passion served him well. It led him to a love of technology and skill in business, selling radar detectors (much to his mother’s chagrin), then sports radar guns, police radar, police in-car cameras, and body cameras. But God also hardwired him for generosity. That’s why he’s trying to solve the biggest problem in the poorest country in the world. As part of the INKEBUZO caravan, His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE, President of the Republic of Burundi, visited one of Amazi Water’s water systems in Matana, in the province of Bururi. The water system serves more than 5,400 people in the Rubanga community, the Catholic Church, and two schools. During his speech, His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE urged the community of Rubanga to take good care of it and to invest in contributing to the extension of the water distribution: “I am happy to see that 900 households will have access to clean water. […] The natives, the administration, and churches have a key role in supporting you to extend the water points near your houses […]” His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE encouraged the community of Rubanga to keep going forward and find ways to develop their colline. Last week, in Tenga, Bujumbura Rural, #Burundi, Amazi Water celebrated its 1000th well with Major General Nkusi Charles from @ntarehouse, Nsengiyumva Désiré, Governor of Bujumbura-Rural, Butoyi Siméon, Commune Leader of Mutimbuzi and the community. More than 15,000 people in that community now have access to safe, #cleanwater for the first time. This single-well system is the largest Amazi Water has installed to date. The water is stored in three 10,000-liter elevated tanks and flows to 22 taps around the community. 36 solar panels power the pump. This event marks a milestone in our commitment to ending the water crisis in Burundi with the goal of providing safe, clean water for every community in Burundi by 2030. Thank you for your continued support in serving the perseverant people of Burundi! #AmaziWater #CleanWaterforBurundi
