This Thanksgiving, we reflect on the incredible network of support that empowers our work and impacts our community. We are deeply grateful to the Children's Board of Hillsborough County for funding our Garden and Art Wellness (GAW) program along with our summer programs; to Hillsborough County for providing our county grant, and to Hillsborough County Public Schools for their valued partnership, which allows us to provide wraparound services in schools. These collaborations make it possible for us to foster growth, learning, and well-being for the families we serve. To our team, partners, and community members—thank you for your unwavering dedication and belief in our mission. Together, we are creating brighter futures and stronger communities. Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving! 🦃🍂✨ #Thanksgiving #Gratitude #CommunityImpact #GAWProgram #PartnershipsInAction #TogetherWeThrive"

Check out the recap from Sunday’s CommUNITY Healing Grounds event at THJCA in partnership with Conscious Community Connectors. We had such a great time and it was beautiful to see so many people come together from all walks of life to laugh, dance, and share stories📚 At THJCA, it’s such a pleasure to host and be a part of these wonderful healing spaces! See you next time!✨
🎥 So excited to share our recap video from last Sunday’s CommUNITY Healing Grounds event in partnership with Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association and Smart Growth America! This project has been a true joy and an incredible success because we CENTERED and PAID our incredible local creatives, artists, and cultural workers. The result speaks for itself—our events are more dynamic, engaging, and impactful when we prioritize and invest in the arts! 🎨✨ A huge thank you to the Healing our Highways Program for this opportunity. As we carry on from this celebration of art and community, we’re excited to move into the next phase—focused on preserving and sharing the rich oral histories and stories of Tampa Heights and Sulphur Springs. With the support of the Mellon Foundation and USF’s Tomaro Taylor Vela, we’ll continue to honor and amplify these stories, ensuring they are remembered and cherished for generations to come. 🗣️📚 #CommunityEngagement #Storytelling #LocalArtists #ArtInCommunity #OralHistories #TampaHeights #SulphurSprings #HealingOurHighways #CreativeCommunity #PreservingHistory

Last month we had the awesome opportunity to take some students to the Youth Environmental Summit in St.Pete! 🌱🌍 Our students had so much fun exploring the interactive tables, learning about the environment, and even hosting their own workshop on environmental justice! 💪✨ Connecting with others who understand the importance of centering youth in environmental justice reminds us just how powerful young voices are in shaping the future. The energy and enthusiasm were contagious! 🌟 We’re incredibly proud of our students and honored to be part of this greater work. Being part of the Roots & Shoots Alliance with the Jane Goodall Institute and collaborating with so many passionate groups shows that together, we are truly hope in action. We can’t wait to continue this journey toward a healthier planet! 🌿💚 #YouthLead #EnvironmentalJustice #RootsAndShoots #THJCA #HopeInAction #CommunityAction

As part of the Roots & Shoots Youth Environmental Summit’s “Day of Action,” THJCA teamed up with Conscious Community Connectors to host the second part of our CommUNITY Mosaic project! Together, we cleaned up the green space behind the community center, making it a welcoming spot for both pollinators and people. 🌼🐝 We added fresh native plants to the pollinator boxes, repainted the park benches, cleared debris, pulled weeds, and laid down fresh mulch to bring the space back to life. All of this is part of our ongoing Healing Our Highways initiative, where we’re transforming the spaces around the highway to be more community-centric, beautiful, and healthy. From murals to native landscaping, we’re dedicated to creating spaces that bring art, nature, and people together—our very own CommUNITY Mosaic. ✨ #HealingOurHighways #CommUNITYMosaic #PollinatorGarden #Placekeeping #YouthEnvironmentalSummit #RootsAndShoots #TampaHeights #CommunityBeautification
