About us
Our story began in 1946 with the collaboration of former US Army Corps of Engineers Officers, Hue Thomas and Joe Hutton, in their start-up engineering firm in Savannah, GA. Our founders envisioned tremendous opportunities in transforming the landscape and well-being of our communities by providing professional and consulting services to municipalities in the region, as well as private entities seeking to develop in the area. Today, Thomas & Hutton stands as one of the most well-respected and established multidisciplinary firms in the region, branching out to fifteen offices across ten regions in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. We provide comprehensive solutions to complex engineering and design challenges to a diverse group of private and public clients through professional consulting; civil, environmental, structural and marine, transportation, water resources, and water and wastewater engineering; surveying; planning; landscape architecture; geographic information system (GIS), and construction administration services. Thomas & Hutton offers a multidisciplinary range of services to pursue project success for clients in a variety of markets. We design with the future in mind. Our passion is providing civil engineering and related services to design places that become timeless, that transform into a vibrant place full of vitality, and that build a strong sense of community. Creating devices, techniques, and implementation strategies that help build a better vision and a healthier community are a part of our overall culture.

REMINDER! VOTE FOR OUR TANK OF THE YEAR! Last day to vote is this Friday, October 18 at 5 pm central!
VOTE FOR OUR TANK OF THE YEAR! 📣 On May 20, 2022, Governor Kemp announced that Hyundai would construct its new electric vehicle plant, Hyundai Motor Group Meta Plant America (HMGMA), at the I-16 Mega-Site in Bryan County, GA. As part of this transformative project, Bryan County chose a stunning 2-million-gallon composite-style tank for its lower long-term maintenance costs and overall aesthetics. To enhance the tank’s visual appeal and foster community involvement, Bryan County coordinated with HMGMA to facilitate a competition with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) to design a logo for the tank. This initiative not only beautified the structure but also established a visual landmark for our region. 🗳️ How to Vote: Visit the link below and cast your vote! No better start to the day than by volunteering. The 4 of us (Thomas Pace, CMA, CFE, Lauren Davenport & Uma) showed up for Thomas & Hutton’s volunteer day and put together 360 boxes of food in three hours. These boxes will help hungry families in one of the 21 counties that Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia serves. Extra kudos to Lauren Davenport for showing up after she’d already run 20 miles this AM for NYC Marathon prep 😳💪🏃🏻♀️

Project Update: Belfast Keller Road School Access We're proud to be part of the Belfast Keller Road School Access project! This project involves widening a 1.5-mile stretch of road near Cranston Bluff Road to provide access to the new Richmond Hill High School, opening next fall. It includes expanding the road to four lanes with a median, curb and gutter, and two brand-new “turbo” roundabouts – some of the first in the region! These innovative roundabouts will enhance traffic flow and safety for the school and surrounding community. Stay tuned for more updates as we progress on this innovative project!
