Students from across the county now have a state-of-the-art, six-court facility to call their own. Varsity tennis stars Lamaria McCree and Brianna Woodard, with Superintendent Dr. Antwon Sutton and Assistant Superintendent for Operations Thomas Barr were aces at their ribbon cutting duties! The Chester High School tennis team will take to the courts for the first time on Tuesday, September 24. Go Cyclones! We were honored to be part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the newly expanded Abbeville County Career Center. Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver, along with local and state lawmakers, celebrated the grand opening with students, families, and school staff. State Rep. Chris Gagnon and State Sen. Michael Gambrell announced during the event that they had secured a $300,000 grant for the center's automotive technology program. Students displayed work from the automotive tech, carpentry, cosmetology, culinary arts, engineering, health sciences, IT, and welding programs. Exciting news for District Five Schools of Spartanburg County! We just broke ground on the new stadium complex at James F. Byrnes High School. Staff, students, and community members joined forces to ceremonially kick off the project with members of the Thompson Turner Construction and McMillan Pazdan Smith Upstate teams. The new facility will feature the latest in lighting, improved seating, a turf field, expanded parking, spectator entrance plaza, upgraded concessions areas, new locker rooms, a press box, meeting rooms, and a ✨ Jumbotron. ✨ The stadium will host the football and lacrosse teams as well as graduation ceremonies.
