Celebrating Loretta Oleksy!
At yesterday's Indiana State Bar Association Annual Summit, outgoing ISBA President Tom Felts awarded Loretta Oleksy the Presidential Citation in recognition of her contributions to the Indiana State Bar Association and the legal profession.
In his introductory comments, Tom shared that Loretta was one of his first calls as he prepared for his presidency because of her long and deep commitment to the legal community's well-being, which was one of his areas of focus during his time as President. He also noted that Loretta had connected diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging to well-being for him. It's all interconnected.
The work we do is hard because attending to well-being is still often seen as "nice to have" and/or denigrated as a "soft skill." The practices are simple, not easy, and they are practices, not hacks.
Attending to well-being takes practice and reps, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.
Do you know who's been doing this work for over a decade?
Loretta Oleksy
Congratulations, Loretta, for this recognition for your contributions to our collective well-being!
