🚨🇬🇧 Important update on APP Fraud Reimbursement limits in the UK 🚨 The Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) is reducing the maximum limit on Authorised Push Payment (APP) fraud reimbursement from £415k to £85k, coming into effect this October. 💼 This shift has been the subject of much debate, but who will it really impact? Here's a breakdown: 🏦 CRM participants and institutions with fraud guarantees Minimal impact since they already cover more than £85k in cases. 🏛️ Payment Service Providers (PSPs) with strong controls Will see reduced risk of high-value claims but could face "bad luck" on rare high-value cases. 🔓 PSPs with weaker controls The overall risk remains high with potential for multiple high-value claims, though individual claims might decrease in size. 😥 Victims While more than 99% will not be affected, those who suffer life-changing losses will still be impacted, but some reimbursement is better than none. 🤔 First-party fraudsters Likely unaffected, as they tend to focus on lower amounts to stay under the radar. 👿 Organised scammers No major impact since reimbursement limits don’t typically influence their operations. 🐴 Mules No impact; accounts will still face closure, losses will be written off, and markers will be added to credit files. At ThreatMark, we believe the focus should shift towards enhancing customer processes and using data-driven detection methods to combat fraud. The emphasis should be on proactive measures, not just limits. 🔗 https://buff.ly/47cIM9Y #FraudPrevention #APPfraud #PSR
