Centered Career wants us to consider that your heartbeat is like a metronome. Your beating heart emits an electromagnetic wave that can entrain to the other hearts around you. On a physical or metaphoric level, do you want your heart to beat as the other hearts in your workplace do? Look around you at work: do you respect the people with whom you meet every day? Do you aspire to be like those who are senior to you? What about the organization’s leadership? Are they admirable people? If you dislike your colleagues or disagree with the morals, ethics, or character of the people with whom you’re working, remember the movement of the metronomes. If you’re getting signals that you don’t fit in or don’t belong, perhaps those signals are a blessing. You might be the holdout metronome, unwilling to change your beat to fit the company’s dance.
