Thresholds Health is partnering with The New Roseland Community Hospital Mobile Mammogram Van to provide breast cancer screenings for our community. On November 13th and December 2nd, the van will be outside of Thresholds Health from 9am - 2pm. October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States (with the exception of skin cancers). It makes up 30% of all new female cancer diagnoses each year. While the statistics are alarming, it is also important to remember that with routine healthcare visits, screenings, and improved treatments, rates of breast cancer fatalities are decreasing. Our Community Outreach Specialist, Aasia attended a seniors health fair with Embrace Living Communities last week, promoting blood pressure and breast cancer awareness. High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a common condition in older adults, and can lead to serious health problems if left unchecked. We recommend you have a blood pressure monitor at home or have frequent checks with your healthcare provider.
