Project HappyBelly: Tidewater Named Finalist for Innovation Award at Seafarer Award 2024 Tidewater is delighted to announce that we have been selected as one of the nine finalists for the prestigious Innovation Award at the Seafarer Award 2024, organized by The Mission to Seafarers. We are especially proud that our inaugural global crew engagement initiative, Project HappyBelly, has earned us this esteemed recognition.   Launched on 25 June, in celebration of the Day of the Seafarer, Project HappyBelly was designed to honor our diverse and hardworking crew across our global fleet. This initiative is rooted in one simple but meaningful idea: bringing joy to our crew members by celebrating one of their greatest loves on board - great food! On this special day, we encouraged our crew to unite in a day of celebration, sharing delicious meals, playing games and music, and creating moments of camaraderie and happiness. Many of our crew held joyous gatherings on board their vessels with sumptuous feasts and wished one another “Happy Day of the Seafarer”. Some of our crew and vessesl even went the extra mile to create fun-filled musical performances and played games on board. This nomination is a recognition of our ongoing commitment to nurturing a culture of respect and care within our workplace. Special thanks to the distinguished panel of judges. We extend our congratulations to all the other deserving finalists. May the best company win on 11 October! Joanne Ang, Managing Director APAC at Tidewater, represented the company as a panel speaker at the Industry Leaders’ Panel Session during Day Two of the Offshore Support Journal (OSJ) Asia Conference, held on 18 September in Singapore. The panel featured prominent industry leaders, including Ernest Loh, Head of SBU – Asia Pacific at Britoil Offshore Services Pte Ltd; Stuart Edgar, Executive General Manager of Vessel Services at MMA Offshore; and Vivek Khabya, Managing Director of Arus Jaya Oil & Gas Pte Ltd. Moderated by Edwin Lampert, Executive Editor of Riviera Maritime Media, the engaging discussion focused on how shipowners are navigating a market characterized by tight vessel supply and high rates. The panel delved into strategies for stabilizing operations and driving growth during the current "super cycle" in this inherently cyclical industry. Key challenges such as rising operational costs, an aging fleet, crew shortages, and the broader industry outlook were also addressed. During the Q&A session, the audience raised questions on a range of topics, from the justification for surging charter rates to identifying key growth markets and exploration opportunities in the region. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Captain and crew of Falcon Tide for their outstanding performance. A big thank you to all the Captains and crews of the 125 vessels in the Tidewater fleet who participated enthusiastically in this initiative. Ian Connolly, General Manager, Technical & Operations APAC represents Tidewater and joins over 100 maritime youth and industry partners in tree-planting activity in Singapore On the morning of 24 August, Ian Connolly, General Manager, Technical & Operations APAC, represented Tidewater and joined 42 company representatives and 62 past and present MaritimeONE scholars in planting 80 tree saplings at a tree-planting event, MaritimeONE Scholars’ Advance. The event was organized by the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) for MaritimeONE scholarship partners and scholars to mingle and collectively do their part for Mother Nature. Ian on representing Tidewater as a MaritimeONE sponsor “I was thrilled to participate in the Plant-A-Tree program at the beautiful Coney Island Park. This fantastic outing was organized by the Singapore Maritime Foundation, in support of Singapore’s National Parks’ ambitious “City in Nature” initiative which aims to plant an impressive one million trees by 2030 and encourage maritime scholars and partners to contribute to social causes. So far, the effort has resulted in an impressive 713,791 trees finding their new homes across the country. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and camaraderie as we mingled with enthusiastic maritime scholars and engaged in inspiring conversations with industry partners. A notable highlight of the event was meeting Mr. Murali Pillai, Singapore’s Minister of State for Transport and Law, whose passion for environmental stewardship was palpable.” Ian on his first tree-planting activity in Singapore ”As it turned out, planting trees wasn’t just about digging holes and dropping in saplings — it was a full-body workout! Who knew? We toiled under Singapore’s humidity, feeling accomplished as we contributed to the greenery of our urban landscape. By the end of the morning, my arms were sore, but I felt good and a sense of achievement from our collective effort for the environment. It was a great and meaningful way to spend a Saturday morning, doing our part for nature while making new friends in the Singapore maritime community. I will be popping past every so often to see how our trees are doing.”  Kudos to Ian and everyone involved for organizing and participating in such a purposeful event to protect the environment. This event is also aligned with Tidewater's Q3 theme, Project Happy Earth, as part of the ongoing The Ripple Project, which seeks to encourage employees to participate in marine and environmental initiatives and to create waves of positivity throughout the organization.
