TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter is back on the road for his second #McWhorterOnTheMove, and this time he had the privilege of visiting the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis, an incredible hub where groundbreaking research is being transformed into real-world applications. This is just another example of the innovation happening in Tennessee, and it's exciting to see our universities and industries working together to build a thriving ecosystem for growth and success. 👏

TNECD is proud to support the Memphis Library Foundation with a $300,000+ DSEW grant to expand the Innovator-in-Residence Program, empowering creative professionals to deliver digital skills training and workforce development opportunities across the Memphis community. 👏
Memphis Library Foundation executive director | Advocate for my local library system | Former attorney | LGBTQ+ ally
I am thrilled to announce that the Memphis Library Foundation received a $300,000+ Digital Skills, Education, and Workforce Development (DSEW) grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to expand our groundbreaking Innovator-in-Residence Program! The Program engages creative professionals (i.e. Innovators) to base part or all of their work in a public library where they receive free workspace, an annual stipend, and access to equipment and other resources. In exchange, Innovators deliver public programs that inspire, teach, and connect members of the Memphis community to networks, while delivering the digital skills training necessary for success in today's workforce. The incomparable Ena T. Cole, MBA (aka Ena Esco) was our first Innovator, basing her Verbally Effective podcast in the Cossitt Library and supporting the dreams of hundreds of new and aspiring podcasters through her programs and mentorship. This two-year grant enables us to add SIX new Innovators to the Memphis Public Libraries system! Are you a creative entrepreneur, or do you know one?
