Executive & CEO Focusing on Leadership, Strategy, Nonprofit Administration, Business Rescue & Turnaround, and Revenue Growth
The Tennessee Nonprofit Network team had a great time in Nashville two weeks ago at our Southern Nonprofit Association Convening supported by National Council of Nonprofits' Leading from Strength funding. We were excited to see our friends from TogetherSC, Alabama Association of Nonprofits, North Carolina Center for Nonprofits, Center for Nonprofit Management - Nashville, TN, Center for Nonprofit Excellence - Virginia, Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy, Kentucky Nonprofit Network, West Virginia Nonprofit Association, Florida Nonprofit Alliance, Mission Capital, and special guests from National Council of Nonprofits and Fidelity Charitable® Catalyst Fund. The Southern Convening fostered collaboration among nonprofit associations across the south to address challenges, adapt to a changing landscape, prioritize equity, and build capacity for a stronger nonprofit sector in the South. We look forward to future collaborations and opportunities to work together to support nonprofits across the South! (PS. The TNN staff also surprised me with a gift and a song for my 45th birthday at the convening, which explains why I'm so red in the picture!)

"In the heart of the burgeoning United States, amidst the fervor of the American Revolution and the burgeoning abolitionist movement, a beacon of hope and self-reliance emerged from the marginalized African American community of Philadelphia. The Free African Society, founded in 1787, stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of a people determined to forge their own destiny in the face of adversity. This organization is also a powerful example of the divergence of less formal, more relational mutual aid support and the formal institutions that have emerged. This blog post delves into the history of this remarkable organization, exploring its origins, its founders, and its enduring legacy of mutual aid and community empowerment." https://lnkd.in/e7jZ_VHu

It was so good to join other state associations from the southeast to listen, learn, share and connect. Thank you Tennessee Nonprofit Network for planning this session for us!
Last week, our team members GP and Destiny traveled to Nashville to gather with colleagues from other southeastern nonprofit associations, through a grant provided by the National Council of Nonprofits. The two-day convening helped our regional association leaders get to know each other, discuss pressing issues relevant to our region, and discover new ways to collaborate in the future. #AlliesForGood

"Arthur and Lewis Tappan were more than just successful businessmen; they were devout Christians who believed their wealth carried a moral imperative. Their lives were testaments to a faith-driven philanthropy, channeling their fortunes towards a multitude of causes aimed at bettering society. While their fight against slavery stands as their most recognized endeavor, their philanthropic impact extended far beyond abolition, leaving an indelible mark on education, religious reform, and ethical business practices in 19th century America." https://lnkd.in/eNr79zEh

The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA of the USA), or simply the Y, has a rich history rooted in social responsibility and philanthropic giving. Founded in 1844 by George Williams in London, the organization emerged as a response to the challenges faced by young men migrating to cities during the Industrial Revolution. From its humble beginnings, the YMCA has grown into a global movement, impacting countless lives through its commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. What you may not know about the YMCA is that the organization was key to formalizing philanthropic giving and its enduring legacy of service to communities worldwide. https://lnkd.in/egRYcGgD

It's been a few weeks since I had the pleasure of presenting at the Tennessee Nonprofit Network's Tennessee Nonprofit Conference in Memphis, where I shared AI insights for social impact and enhancing nonprofit operations. I've really enjoyed hearing follow-up from nonprofit leaders on how they're implementing the tools and resources I shared, and I’m excited about a few additional speaking opportunities already lined up for 2025. I can't say enough about the staff at Tennessee Nonprofit Network. They not only provide statewide resources for organizations but also lead with heart and grit, amplifying the voices of an industry dedicated to improving lives.
