Thanks to Isaiah Knox for his contributions to this Austin Regional Manufacturers Association (ARMA) workforce development panel discussion, October 2024. https://lnkd.in/gpUcwKUW
E3 Alliance, ARMA, and Austin Community College hosted CTE directors, counselors, and assistant superintendents from around central Texas to raise awareness about career opportunities in manufacturing and the programs available to help their students succeed. Thank you to John Newman at Athena Manufacturing, L.P., and Tim Beaird and Jennifer Howard, PHR, SHRM-CP at Wondercide for giving our teachers a tour of their facilities. Thank you to Dr Laura Marmolejo, Ed.D, and Tina Carver from Austin Community College for their overview of their growing and successful advanced manufacturing programs. Many thanks to Mayor Kirk Watson who came out to speak about the importance of manufacturing careers and the pathways available for students to enter a career field that provides a sustainable living wage, a purpose-driven career, and entrepreneurial opportunities. We would also like to thank Isaiah Knox, Jessica "Jessie" Camarillo, Clara Neri-Mejia, PMP, and Tim Kimbro for participating in the "Bridging the Gap: Connecting Education and Manufacturing Pathways" panel discussion; and Sarah Ruddy for moderating the discussion. Thank you, too, to all the educators who joined us and for helping mold our future manufacturers!
