A build tool does a few main things: ☑️ Compiles source code in an executable binary ☑️ Resolves dependencies- like libraries so it’s available for the build ☑️ Packages the compiled code into executable files or Docker containers ☑️ Automates repetitive tasks so time to compile the source code goes down Some good examples of build tools are Bazel and Buck2. What is a test tool? A test tool is an application designed to help testers verify that the code changes works correctly. Here’s what a test tool does: ☑️ Automate tests where the tests are executed so the software written has the expected behavior ☑️ Test specific classes or code components via unit tests ☑️ Run integration tests so different code parts or services work together as expected ☑️ Run CI/CD pipelines so you can get feedback on the code changes Some good examples of test tools are Jenkins and JUnit.
