With the arrival of chilly weather (finally!), we at Trailnet are excited to welcome fall, and with it, voting season. 🍂 🍁 With a proposition for transportation improvements on the ballot for the City of St. Louis, we believe voter education is vital. Here's a short breakdown on Prop T. This November, City of St. Louis voters will decide on Prop T. Pending a 60% majority vote on 11/5, Prop T will create a Charter change to establish a City Department of Transportation (City DOT)—a proposal that Trailnet has long advocated to have placed on the ballot. With the passing of Prop T, the City DOT would have the authority and improved capacity to make improvements that simply are not possible without a City DOT... For more information read our posts at trailnet.org/the-latest Don’t forget to make a plan to vote on Tuesday, November 5th. If you have any questions, please reach out to Trailnet’s Policy Catalyst Charles Bryson at charles@trailnet.org.

Browse below to see an intersection in North St. Louis County transformed in <6 months! Trailnet planners have been collaborating with Beyond Housing and the WELLSTON, CITY OF community to reimagine safer and slower residential streets in Wellston. Our planners staged a pop-up traffic calming demonstration in Wellston in March 2024, supported by Ameren. They received valuable community feedback about road safety concerns from that demonstration, town hall meetings, community surveys, and conversations with community members. Using this feedback, Trailnet created a set of recommended traffic-calming solutions for Wellston. Quick-build traffic calming features were recently implemented at the intersection of Stephen Jones & Plymouth, adjacent to the St. Vincent Great Rivers Greenway and a couple blocks from the St. Louis Metro Transit - Wellston station!

Hats off to Justin for representing Trailnet and #STL as a member of Smart Growth America's inaugural #DangerousByDesign technical assistance program! If you haven't already, peruse the #DBD24 report here: https://lnkd.in/gCyysva
With our last session concluded today, I'm feeling grateful for the folks at Smart Growth America and the other members of the inaugural Dangerous by Design Technical Assistance Program (as well as my employer Trailnet for encouraging me to participate). It's inspiring to see the passionate work being done in communities across the country to combat the worsening epidemic of traffic violence. If you're not already familiar, it's worth your time to check out the 2024 #DangerousByDesign report here: https://lnkd.in/gRmCDZEb Also as a part of this report, I (Justin) was invited to contribute a short case study from the St. Louis community: https://lnkd.in/gYNiZUfC The stories I shared—as well as my suggested solutions—are but a small sample of the tragedies, ideas, actions and needs coming from #STL. I hope I'm doing my most-loved town proud with this work. Excited for the coming progress, especially in the City (https://lnkd.in/g5HexJHY). Oh, and if you care about living in a St. Louis that is built in the best interests of humans, not cars, check out Trailnet's work! That's all! #StreetsForAll #SafeStreets #BikePedAdvocacy

Trailnet has some exciting news!! The City of St. Louis passed a new Complete Streets Policy today with unanimous approval. Any major transportation projects in the city will greatly improve community engagement in a meaningful way. People of all abilities will be centered as projects are designed and their safety will be prioritized. It will include ongoing data collection to track progress on creating a robust network for walking and biking. This policy will lay the foundation for safe streets every time the City considers designing, building, or maintaining a street--truly making the Streets for All! Thanks to Alderman Schweitzer, Alderman Browning, and all who supported this bill. Thanks to ALL the Partners and advocates including @Transform314, Missourians for Responsible Transportation, the Community Mobility Committee, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society Action Network, and many more who made this happen! https://lnkd.in/eU29cZ6t #CompleteStreets #PedestrianSafety #Walkability

Thank you Great Rivers Greenway for inviting us to help lead this ride! It was a ton of fun. And thanks to Big Shark Bicycle Company for the bikes + SAG!
I am in St. Louis this week for the Consortium of Regional Trail Initiatives (CRTI) national conference. Today, host Great Rivers Greenway and Trailnet lead a trail infrastructure tour by bike. I'm meeting leaders from around the country building regional trail networks and connecting with colleagues, both current and former.
