The evolution of virtual spaces is reshaping how we think about IP protection and brand experiences. Two recent projects perfectly illustrate this transformation: NBCUniversal's "The Office" experience in Meta's Horizon Worlds and Metallica's "Fuel Fire Fury" immersive music project – both by the creative minds at Magnopus. These aren't just gaming experiences - they represent a new frontier where brands can create deep, interactive engagement with their audiences. As virtual worlds become more sophisticated, they're breaking down barriers between different media forms, allowing innovative crossovers between gaming, music, TV, and film. But this evolution brings crucial questions about IP protection in virtual spaces. How do we bridge the gap between low-value spatial assets and sophisticated digital environments? How can brands protect their virtual extensions while maximizing engagement? Explore these insights and more in our latest blog post on securing IP in virtual worlds: https://lnkd.in/gm34WDMa

Red Robin Films, a North London-based bespoke Film and Commercials production company, owned and managed by Isobel Drane and Kieran Lowley, announces it's successful cast/crew screening of Hestia on Friday. Produced at Sony's Digital Media Production Centre Europe (DMPCE), Hestia was produced using Sony's Crystal LED VERONA display system – which provided an incredibly realistic virtual backdrop for the space scenes. This technology allowed the filmmakers to create immersive, high-fidelity 3D environments that could be manipulated in real-time. As co-director Isobel Drane noted, "With the new Crystal LED panels, you have a virtual backdrop that's incredibly realistic, and looking through the viewfinder the black levels of Verona create a sensation of depth that make you forget you are looking at a screen at all". This level of immersion allowed Red Robin Films to create a space odyssey that rivals much larger productions. The virtual production techniques employed in Hestia allowed the team to optimize their workflow, using real-time visualization and interaction with digital environments. A British Cinematographer article covering the film states "The high brightness and antireflective properties of Verona allowed the production team to fill the room with light without worrying about washing out the LED. This created an immersive and emotional atmosphere in which camera operators could move freely in -- not dissimilar to the demands of shooting on location." This capability enabled Red Robin Films to achieve complex shots and create convincing space scenes without the need for expensive sets or location shoots. The success of Hestia demonstrates the potential that Treasury sees in spatial computing for transforming creative workflows. It shows how access to high-quality virtual environments can allow smaller teams to compete with larger productions in terms of visual spectacle and narrative scope. As we continue to help license and syndicate high-quality spatial environments at Treasury, projects like Hestia serve as inspiring examples of what's possible with powerful virtual production tools – and validate our commitment to fostering collaboration between creatives and technologists in this space. It's exciting to see how virtual environments and spatial computing are pushing the boundaries of storytelling, and we look forward to enabling more people to harness these technologies in their work. FundamentalVR has released version 2.0 of its surgical training application for the Apple Vision Pro system, marking a significant step forward in spatial computing for medical education. This development in spatial computing technology is reshaping how healthcare professionals learn and practice, potentially leading to improved patient outcomes. It joins recent offerings from other major players like KARL STORZ, Siemens Healthineers, and Stryker in leveraging Apple's VR technology for surgical education. Richard Vincent, CEO and Co-Founder of FundamentalVR, said of the release, "With this release, we are redefining the future of medical training by making it more accessible and immersive than ever before." The convergence of spatial computing and healthcare represents a pivotal moment not only for medical training but also for defining the value proposition of spatial environments. These environments derive their worth not just from their visual appeal, but from their purposeful design and development for specific use cases. In healthcare, this means creating spaces that enhance learning, improve procedural accuracy, and ultimately contribute to better patient care. Moreover, the data generated by users interacting with these environments holds significant value. User feedback and performance metrics can be analyzed to refine training programs, improve medical devices, and drive innovation in healthcare delivery. This data, when properly anonymized and aggregated, can be licensed to researchers, medical device manufacturers, and healthcare institutions – creating new revenue streams and accelerating advancements in the field. To explore these concepts further, Treasury will be hosting upcoming Science Sessions focused on 3D digital space design in spatial computing. Now the dust is settling after an excellent week of conference and presentations with NXT BLD, NXT DEV and preceding on the Monday night the Treasury event at Bentley Systems new London pad, I have been dwelling on my reflections on what has served as some great me time, with new and old friends. This year for me was characterised by the contrast between the richness of presentations about the individuals and companies who were sharing what they had actually done and the continuing discussion of the challenges that praticioners (and start-ups) have in a world which is dominated by sluggish development and extractive licencing from the encumbents. I can't help but think that the fourth outing of Greg Schleusner's presentation, may have missed the boat. In my eyes the iterations are still struggling to get beyond a problem statement while companies like Speckle are accelerating their development and wowing us repeatedly with new features and functionality, perhaps without the hard ideology. Jay Vleeschhouwer's presentation on the numbers behind the big developers in our industry also revealled that there has been little impact from outreachs such as Greg's and arguably the Future AEC Software Specifcation in the directions they seek to pull. Contrast this with the inspirational and huge of ambition of Antonio González Viegas from That Open Company who is building a community making the equivalent of a Unity, Unreal or Godot for makers of #BIM software. AEC Punk at its best! Two other standouts were Clifton Harness with his warts and all presentation about the history of TestFit which set development decisions against the waxing and waning of the wider built environment market in the US and deconstructed how this affected their successes and failures. Alongside this, bruce bell and Oliver Thomas presenting their future plans to continue sustainably growing Facit Homes with their next generation of on-site microfactories as they expand into building multi-unit dwellings while the rest of the MMC (offsite) industry seems to be crashing or stagnating. The message from all of this is simple - now is the time to stop talking and get doing! That is the only way the industry will change. If you missed the conference, everything was recorded and is (or will) be available online soon. Congratulations to Martyn Day and Greg Corke for putting on another brilliant, brilliant conference which shows no sign of fallign from the top spot in my favorite annual events. ps. check out the last picture. Yes there was actually someone watching through a vision pro!
