Transforming Lives. Building Community Well-Being.
About us
Trillium Health Resources manages specialty behavioral health care for North Carolinians across 46 counties. Trillium is committed to transforming lives and building community well-being through partnership, access to services and proven solutions designed to help those we serve reach their fullest potential. Everyone on Trillium’s staff--our care managers, call center, claims agents, project managers, and IT staff--all contribute to this mission. We offer a challenging, engaging work environment where staff take home more than a paycheck. Our performance management plan includes regular check-ins to examine individual employee goals and professional development plan. Our departments work on cross-functional, short-term projects and long ranging initiatives. Every day we see the results of our dedication, in the smiles of children on our accessible playgrounds and pride on the face of an adult cooking a meal for the first time. By joining Trillium, you are doing more than going to work…you are transforming lives. We help those with mental health conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and substance use disorders (Medicaid members and state-funded recipients) get the services they need to improve well-being and live fulfilling lives. We are dedicated to carrying out our mission by investing in the health and well-being of the communities we serve and empowering individuals with access to services, tools and resources to live a fulfilling life. We’re proud of the work the Trillium team does to serve our communities, and we love to see them get the recognition they deserve. We’re thrilled to celebrate Marilyn Gilliam for receiving the President’s Volunteer Service Award for Lifetime Achievement. Marilyn is a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training Coordinator at Trillium. This honor is awarded by AmeriCorps and the Office of the President of the United States to people who use their time and talents to solve some of our nation’s most difficult problems. She was recognized alongside George E. Reynolds, Jr., President of NAMI-Moore County. Both were nominated for their work in CIT training. We’re grateful for the good work these two are doing to create safer, healthier communities! (Photos courtesy of George E. Reynolds Jr. Both are pictured with Dr. Yonas Badi of Mercy Life University.)

It takes all of us to prevent suicide. That’s the message we carried forward at our Suicide Prevention and Awareness SUMMIT in Wilson on September 27. We heard powerful accounts from professionals on the front lines. Lizzie Yates, Barton College's campus counselor, described her own mental health journey like this: "I was drowning in a frozen lake. Every time I tried to resurface and get out, the surface would refreeze.” But when she started talking about her experience, she realized she wasn’t alone. Honest and open communication was emphasized throughout the event as a life-saving tool. Keynote speakers Yvette Richardson and Ashley Gardner challenged the audience to rethink how we communicate about mental health. Are we truly connecting or going through the motions? Together, we can prevent suicide and offer support when it matters most. Thank you to all who joined us at Barton College!
