Talk of the town 😊
We had a great time presenting, learning, and meeting everyone at SLAS this year. The energy was palpable, and I could tell people were eager to share and learn what's new in #labautomation. If you stopped to listen to any of the presentations or checked out any booths at #SLAS2024 in Boston, you may have noticed something…and no, I'm not talking about the sea of blue branding. I'm talking about our automation journey and, after meeting with hundreds of peers, colleagues, and friends over the course of the event, I heard countless stories and questions around the need for something more. How are we as scientists and engineers driving change? What does the future look like with AI? How does automation fit into this plan? How do we fit into it? Here are some key points to take away: 1. Laboratory operating systems are on the rise 2. Automation hardware is only part of the complete automation workflow 3. Data is king! 4. Sample transportation is critical, and taking on many forms SLAS 2024 was also an amazing opportunity for HighRes to discuss these topics and consider the experiences of others. Our Short Course generated excitement and valuable insights into the automation journey of labs large and small. And our interactive Exhibitor Tutorial sparked great conversations around Cellario, AI, change management, flexibility, data storage, data organization, and data communication. I was also able to speak to a full room at the Bio-Rad Laboratories hosted Exhibitor Tutorial alongside Tim Ashlin from GSK. We covered a lot of ground around connecting your lab using the power of Cellario. Many cool and useful products were featured this year, including the: 1. Trisonic discovery A1 dispenser – a timely new acoustic dispenser solution 2. Mytos cell culture platform – a real cell culture for real cells 3. Spaero Bio and Genie – new software to address large liquid handling asset bases, and 4. Perhaps my favorite, our newest product Nucleus® FlexPod™ - your go-to workflow assistant, and an SLAS New Product Award finalist: https://hubs.li/Q02lhLGQ0 If you did not tune into any of the events or see the FlexPod live, get in touch! Finally, we wanted to give a special thanks to everyone who made this event a success: Thank you to SLAS (Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening) for hosting and to our partners who presented alongside us: Crystal McKinnon from Dewpoint Therapeutics, Matt Humes from Beam Therapeutics, Brian Meredith from Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Nicholas Campbell from Recursion, Mike Berke from Amgen, Tim Ashlin from GSK, Bio-Rad Laboratories, and Agilent Technologies. And a big thank you to the HighRes Team: Michael Hopkins, Hannah Blakely, Fonda Newcomb, Steven Watters, Eric Corriveau, Allison Halleck, Christopher R. Riley, Gary Miertschin, Thomas Frech, Charles Moffett, Rory Doherty, Aly Myszewski, Andreas Niewoehner, Jon Mole, Marcus G. Ira Hoffman, Tim Allison, Kevin WP Miller, MS, PhD
