About us
Trusted Mentors connects trained volunteer mentors with at risk adults to help more people stay housed and out of prison. We Mentor for Change with a consistent success rate of 90%. Our partnership model with multiple agencies has the advantage of no duplication of services. We currently collaborate with multiple agencies including RecycleForce, Adult and Child, Homeless Initiative Program, Horizon House, Nurse Family Partnership and Children’s Bureau. We are experiencing growth in the number of clients mentored and agencies served. Volunteer mentors are provided training in the skill of mentoring and then provided professional support by our staff. Training is provided monthly. Mentors commit to an average of 6 hours/month for a year to work one on one with another person to help them succeed at staying housed or not return to prison. By volunteering an average of 6 hours a month, our mentors transform lives - and our community. Volunteers can also assist with three important fundraisers: Empowerment Luncheon is held in February and includes the LIFT Award to recognize mentees who have gone above and beyond in their success. The Fresh Start Bike Tour is a peer to peer event that tours sustainable gardens in Indianapolis. The Gala is an evening event held with a fun theme. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. We are actively building board members who are passionate about helping people remain housed and succeed at not returning to prison. If our mission appeals to you, please contact our office: 317-985-5041. www.trustedmentors.org

Trusted Mentors continues to build relationships with our partners! Several members of staff attended Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield's 2024 Interfaith Health & Wellness Summit at Lucas Oil Stadium to discuss caregiving and connection in central Indiana. Other members attended We Bloom's Fueling the Love fundraising breakfast to support Recovery Cafe and Center for Growth. Today, some our staff attended Public Advocates in Community re-Entry's Mobilize Recovery event and heard stories of support for those struggling with mental health challenges and substance abuse disorder. @paceindy #paceindy

Trusted Mentors welcomes two new employees this week: Alex Richards and Trina Simpson! Alex is a teacher and educator at heart, having spent the past 13 years teaching middle school math in Washington D.C. and Indianapolis. Alongside his wonderful husband and their three adorable cats, he calls Northeast Indianapolis home. Growing up in Indy, Alex has developed a deep connection to the local community and hopes to expand his reach with Trusted Mentors. In his spare time, Alex volunteers with Outdoor Afro and loves exploring nature and the outside world. He finds his peace through searching the woods for native plants, birds, and the occasional spider or butterfly. He also coaches high school swimming at Brebeuf and loves the thrill of competition. Alex is excited to be joining the Trusted Mentors team and looks forward to growing himself, Trusted Mentors, and the broader Indianapolis community. Trina is excited to be joining Trusted Mentors as an External Recruiter. She has several years of experience working in the community service sector with Edna Martin Christian Center and in the Martindale Brightwood area, where she grew up. In her spare time, Trina enjoys event planning and throwing parties for local children. In addition, she and her husband pastor a small church on the northwest side. She loves reading, a variety of arts and crafts, and finding a bargain of any kind. Please help us welcome our new staff! #TrustedMentors #mentor #mentoring
