Textbooks are pointless. They’re boring, expensive, hard to lug around, and cause back pain. But worst of all, they’re outdated the moment they leave the presses. Think about it - a textbook from just a few years ago would have nothing in it about our current election, which is a crucial moment in our society and history. So when we give kids textbooks, we’re giving them resources that don’t include critical, relevant information. That’s not helpful for their education. Instead of sticking to old school academic material just for the sake of tradition, we should focus instead on giving kids access to technology that can aggregate and update facts in real time, so that they’re always learning from the most up-to-date, applicable sources. With all the learning resources available to us in this day and age, why would we ever use a textbook again?
