  • People news: John Adams to retire as GM of Colorado Convention Center and Bellco Theatre and Regional VP of ASM Global in October. Please join us in wishing John the best in his retirement after a 39-year career with the venue management company!

DENVER – September 5, 2024—John Adams, General Manager of the Colorado Convention Center and Regional Vice President for ASM Global, announced today that October 2024, will be his retirement date. With a career marked by dedication and achievement, Adams recently celebrated serving more than 30 years in the role and 39 years with ASM Global. "It's incredible to think that I have had the privilege to work alongside some of the most talented individuals in the industry at all levels," Adams reflected. "To be entrusted with the stewardship of a facility such as the Colorado Convention Center and to have overseen its operations through two extensive expansion projects, which added over 1.5 million gross square feet during my 30-year tenure, has undoubtedly been the pinnacle of my professional journey." Throughout his time at the Colorado Convention Center, Adams played a pivotal role in forming partnerships with the city of Denver and the local hospitality community, collaborating with the Denver Alliance to establish a vibrant and welcoming destination for national, regional, and local communities. In addition to his work with the Colorado Convention Center, Adams has managed operations for numerous other convention center accounts within the ASM Global network. His commitment to service excellence is evident in the customer-centric culture he has cultivated. Adams's extensive experience in the industry includes navigating operations through a pandemic, contributing his expertise to several industry boards, and launching the Colorado Convention Center's most recent expansion project. His accomplishments have earned him a reputation as a dedicated leader who expertly balances operational growth with a steadfast commitment to client satisfaction. As John looks forward to his retirement, he leaves behind a legacy of dedication, innovation, and collaboration that will continue to benefit the Colorado Convention Center, ASM Global, and the broader hospitality industry for years to come.

  • Bringing together more than 70,000 sports fans and collectors, the first-ever Fanatics Fest took over New York City’s Javits Center August 16-18, boasting a staggering 20,000 more attendees than the so-called “ComicCon of sports” initially anticipated.  The event is the brainchild of Fanatics Founder and CEO Michael Rubin—a digital sports merchandise and collectibles company valued at a cool $31 billion—who ensured that there was something for every sports fan. He tapped event agency Freeman Company to execute his vision, which included opportunities to get autographs and take photos with the likes of Tom Brady, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Hulk Hogan. The event also featured live podcast and radio show recordings, as well as on-stage education sessions featuring both sporting legends and non-sports celebs.  Here were the five most notable elements of the Fanatics Fest that amplified what the inaugural immersive sports festival was all about—the fans: https://lnkd.in/g_3_7WkQ Shannon Thaler #tradeshow #tradeshows #eventprofs
