What’s ailing the U.S. healthcare marketplace? For one thing, says Virgil Bretz, co-founder and CEO of TTCP portfolio company MacroHealth, it’s lacking two basic ingredients that all healthy marketplaces require: transparency (specifically regarding price and quality) and trust. Noting that current healthcare costs are not sustainable, Virgil lays out a path to a better healthcare marketplace in a new Forbes Technology Council post. #healthcare #healthtech #fintech

Congratulations to TTCP portfolio company Pyx Health on being recognized by Newsweek as one of the “World’s Best Digital Health Companies.” Co-founders Cindy Jordan and Anne Jordan founded Pyx Health in 2017 to help people suffering from chronic loneliness and social isolation. Today, Pyx is the leading social health platform solving loneliness. One reason Pyx’s technology stands out: Its engaging mobile app experience is combined with compassionate humans to provide members constant access to support and resources. The results are equally impressive: a 60% reduction in loneliness, fewer ER visits for members, and cost savings for health insurers.
I am incredibly humbled to share that Newsweek has named Pyx Health one of the “World’s Best Digital Health Companies.” When Anne and I started this company back in 2017, we understood how pervasive the loneliness crisis was, and knew that we had to incorporate technology as a solution. We couldn’t just go door to door asking people if they were lonely: leveraging a mobile app and online platform allows us to reach lonely people across the country – no matter where they are. But, as those who have followed along with us on this journey know well, we’re so much more than just another mental health app or chatbot. What truly sets us apart from other digital health companies in the field (as evidenced by this award) is our unique blend of tech AND compassionate peer-to-peer support. We’re proud to be known as one of the “top digital health companies” in the world – knowing that we haven’t lost sight of the healing power of human-centered healthcare, either. Thank you to Newsweek for recognizing us, we’re honored! https://hubs.li/Q02vKc1g0

TTCP CEO Dawn Owens kicked off the Convene Conference at the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management with a keynote exploring the potential AI may hold for addressing some of healthcare’s most complex challenges. Convene brings together voices from across the healthcare ecosystem with a common vision of driving change to deliver equitable care to all individuals, effectively addressing healthcare cost, access, safety and equity. This year’s theme, Building the Vision for SmartTech for Health, highlighted the advancements of AI, machine learning, and data science in healthcare. During her keynote address, Ms. Owens spoke about AI’s potential to finally reduce the amount of time clinicians spend on administrative tasks and increase their ability to focus on patient care, helping to alleviate the resource and capacity constraints in healthcare today. Ms. Owens noted that even with all the promise of AI, the system will be well served by a measured approach to implementation and adoption. Gaining the critical insights and buy-in from key stakeholders will pave the way to meaningful levels of adoption and impact that can truly change our healthcare system for the better. #healthcare #innovation #AI #datascience
