Next-Generation Airway Tools. A new approach to managing difficult airways with video laryngoscopy.
About us
Through The Cords: Changing The Future By Design At Through The Cords, we are dedicated to revolutionizing difficult airway management with innovative designs and disruptive business models. Our mission is clear and impactful—Changing The Future By Design. Led by our founder, Dr. Sean Runnels, we aim to make advanced airway management accessible and affordable worldwide. Our Business Theory We use the unique challenges in developing countries to drive innovation in airway management methods and equipment. Our business model follows the principles of Disruptive Innovation by leveraging the design and economic pressures in the developing world to create profitable solutions. We believe established medical device companies will face challenges in responding to the upcoming low-cost medical environment, similar to the struggles of the American auto industry during the 1970s oil crisis. Our Journey Managing airways and training anesthesia providers in low-resource settings presents unique challenges. Dr. Runnels faced these challenges firsthand during his time in Africa, where he managed difficult airways with local anesthesia providers. In developed countries, fiber optic intubation is the gold standard for managing difficult airways, but it's impractical in low-resource settings due to cost and fragility. Dr. Runnels, having gained experience in this area, is now exploring better ways to manage difficult airways in such settings. Join Us on Our Mission Through The Cords is committed to creating a future where advanced airway management is accessible to all, regardless of geographic or economic constraints. We invite you to join us on this mission and help shape the future of healthcare.

Transforming Lives with Innovation! 🚨 Meet Mrs. McCowen, who had a known difficult airway and had only been intubated awake before. With the Runnels Steerable Introducer, she was successfully intubated asleep using a dynamic introducer and video laryngoscopy. The result? A smooth procedure and a very happy provider and patient! 🙌 🎥 Watch her testimonial to see how dynamic tracheal access with VL is changing airway management. #PatientStories #InnovationUnleashed #EfficiencyRedefined

Did you know? The natural geometry of our airway is serpentine! 🐍 🔍 Video Laryngoscopy (VL) preserves serpentine geometry while visualizing the vocal cords, making visualization of the vocal cords eaier and safer. Delivery of the ETT must now take place via a serpentine pathway! Are you using the right tools for tracheal access? Embrace the complexity of airway management! 💙 #Airwaygeometry #MedicalEducation #Laryngoscopy #HealthcareInnovation

Did You Know? Proper Airway Management Saves Lives 🌟 Every second counts when it comes to intubation. Yet, over 1.2M procedures in the U.S. Operating Rooms each year require 3+ attempts, putting patients at risk. Emergencies in the ED and ICU add even more urgency—are our teams equipped to handle the challenge? Swipe through to uncover why having the right airway tools is critical for reducing complications, ensuring patient safety, and saving lives—even in unpredictable situations. 🚑 #ClinicalImpact #AirwayManagement #SaveLives #PatientSafety #AnesthesiaCare #EmergencyMedicine #CriticalCare

A New Era in Airway Management 🚨 Say goodbye to outdated alignment-of-axis theory! 🌊 Greenland’s Serpentine Airway Geometry Theory redefines intubation by working with the airway’s natural curves rather than forcing it straight. With Video Laryngoscopy (VL) preserving this geometry, it’s time to bridge the “conceptual gap” for improved tracheal access and better outcomes. #AirwayManagement #VideoLaryngoscopy #MedicalInnovation #SerpentineTheory

"The main failure mode for VL intubations in emergency situations stems from the inability to place the ETT in spite of an adequate view of the vocal cords." (Krieg 2023, Prekker 2023). The Runnels Steerable Introducer TM allows dynamic steerability and precise control during oral or nasal intubations. 💡 Learn how it improves first-pass success rates! 🌐 Visit us at TTCMed.com 📞 Call us at +1 801-888-8546 📧 Email us at info@ttcmed.com #MedicalEducation #AirwayManagement

🚨 Data you can’t ignore. First-pass failures and difficult intubations are associated with over 1 million major complications in the critically ill. First-pass failure in the critically ill increases 28 day ICU mortality by over 20% Difficult intubations in the OR are associated with over $20,000 increase in medical costs for surgeries. 💔 These complications also cost the healthcare system over $6 billion annually—an average of $1 million per hospital each year. The main culprits? 1️⃣ First attempt failures when securing the airway. 2️⃣ Poor depth control once inside the airway. VL is built to tackle visualization. Our articulating introducers are built to tackle difficult tracheal access. Steerability for precision and ease of use reduce risks and save lives. Together, we can #SaveLives and improve intubation outcomes. 🩺 Let’s simplify intubation and make a difference. #HealthcareInnovation #PatientSafety #IntubationSimplified
