TTX Company celebrated the successful move to our new South End office in Charlotte with a private Grand Opening event on Wednesday, September 25th. The event brought together city leaders, economic developers and key partners involved in the relocation, including CBRE, Gensler and Shelco, LLC who were instrumental in our relocation efforts. At the event, Tom Wells, President and CEO of TTX Company, along with Brian Powers, Vice President and CHRO of TTX Company, spoke about the promising opportunities in the Charlotte area for TTX and expressed their gratitude to our partners and employees for their commitment during this transition. Additionally, TTX was privileged to have Alison Summerville, Business Administration Executive at Ally Bank and 2024 Chair of the CLT Alliance, deliver remarks on the flourishing city of Charlotte and warmly welcome TTX. We are thankful for everyone that was able to attend this special event, especially former TTX Company CEO Ray Burton and his wife Madge Burton, who traveled from New York City to be in attendance. It was a wonderful evening, and we look forward to successful years ahead in the Charlotte area!

TTX proudly plays an important role in preparing for the future of boxcar demand. The North American boxcar fleet is strong and well positioned to meet the needs of customers over the coming years. This is supported by favorable supply trends, including the construction of higher-capacity boxcars and investment from railroads – directly and through TTX – as well as private railcar owners. Efficient utilization like railcar pooling also helps maximize boxcar availability. TTX’s right-sized, low cost, reliable fleet supports optimized railcar utilization to serve North America’s freight needs – now and in the future.

Last week, the Fleet department held its second team outing of the year at the Whitewater Center. There were 52 attendees, of which 28 went rafting, 13 participated in a ropes challenge, and 11 spent time walking around the center. The activities provided opportunities for strengthening communication, fostering a sense of camaraderie, and most importantly, having fun as a group! Thank you to those involved in the planning process including Clay Bartelt, Polly Bridges, Joseph Keck, and Alfredo Rodriguez. It was a fantastic event!

Allen Richardson Sr. started at TTX Company in 1998 at the BNSF Cicero, IL Field Maintenance Operation. Over the years, he referred many family members and friends who were interviewed and hired to join the TTX family at various Chicago Field Maintenance Operation locations. The Richardson family lives the TTX core values by always Living Safety and Doing the Right Thing. When we asked Allen Richardson Sr. why he has referred people he knew well to TTX over the years, he replied, “TTX is a great company with great opportunities. I knew my family would be good for the job. They are good workers and good people.” Pictured here, left to right: Donielle Barnes (Allen’s Son, 14 years of service), DeJontae Richardson (Allen’s Son, 6 years of service), Allen Richardson Sr. (26 years of service), Darriyon Richardson (Allen’s Son, 8 years of service), Arriyon Richardson (Allen’s Son, 8 years of service), Allen Richardson Jr. (Allen’s Son, 14 years of service), Bill Stevenson (Allen’s Cousin, 10 years of service). At TTX Company, one of our core values is Know Our Business. This comes to life with the success of our recent initiative to take new employees to our largest RSO (Repair Shop Operation) in North Augusta, South Carolina. This allows them to see our car types, the work we perform, and our material distribution center. The tour has proven to be so popular that we have extended it to all employees who relocated to Charlotte. Last week, we took our 9th group of employees on this tour. It's a great opportunity for our staff to know our business and have contacts for future reference.

That’s a wrap on New Hire Training August 2024!   Maintenance Specialists at TTX from locations nationwide visited our Chicago Training Center this month to participate in TTX’s New Hire Orientation where they worked together to further develop their ability and knowledge of railcar maintenance and operations. In addition to learning and building our #livesafety culture, we had fun! Thanks to Regional Training Supervisors Tim McLean and John Drexler from our Chicago Training Center for leading the training!   New Hire Orientation encompasses a wide range of important topics like air brake testing, diving deeper into rail car components, ins and outs of assembly and disassembly, and safe welding practices. To kick off the 4-week training, Cory Norris, CMSP, TTX’s Manager Environmental Health and Safety, joined us to learn more about how we can operate safely to ensure efficiency and reliability for our customers. We are grateful to all our employees for their commitment to #livesafety!

ConnecTTX, a Business Resource Group of TTX Company, held its inaugural event in Charlotte on Wednesday. Twenty team members volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHMETROLINA), demonstrating their commitment to “helping people | changing lives” by giving back through volunteer work and community engagement. Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina annually distributes over 75 million pounds of food and other household items throughout their 19-county service region. The ConnecTTX group unpacked and sorted household essentials like diapers, soap, and paper towels. These items will soon be distributed to those in need, ensuring that they have access to important resources. Our employees were proud to contribute to a cause that makes a difference in the Charlotte community while living out one of TTX Company’s core values “Do the Right Thing”. #CommunityImpact #VolunteerWork #CoreValues #GivingBack #CharlotteCommunity

Two weeks ago, the team at our TTX facility in Philadelphia were in the process of completing their daily work activities on a 95-degree, sticky summer day when Mike Land and Mark Geist turned the corner in their work truck and spotted an unresponsive person lying in a puddle in the middle of the railyard. The team jumped to action with first aid lifesaving efforts by checking for a pulse and contacting emergency services. The person appeared to be extremely dehydrated, unresponsive, and suffering from heat exhaustion. The other TTX Specialists on duty, Steve Curry Jr., Joe Taeffner and Supervisor Scott Riddle, dropped what they were doing to help get additional supplies, guide EMS to the location, and cool the victim down consistent with our hot weather protocols. When the emergency response workers came to the scene and took over, they commended the team for their actions, stating that but for their intervention, the person very likely would have perished. The victim was transported to the hospital, and we were informed that they have made a full recovery. We are extremely proud of the team and want to thank them for their incredible presence of mind in an emergency, and for doing what we do best, The Right Thing. Senior leadership traveled to the location for a luncheon to thank the team and to honor our TTX heroes. Hats off to the Philadelphia TTX Field Maintenance Operation Team, you are true heroes!

Company leaders and the Field Maintenance Operation in Flint, Michigan celebrated their 10-year milestone of safe operation without an injury on July 11, 2024. “It did not happen by chance,” said Jeff Mu, TTX’s Director Environmental Health and Safety. He added, “It takes everyone at the site to exercise safety - one day at a time, one task at a time, through “Think It Through, Take 2,” great communication and watching out for each other. It was very impressive to observe how heavy work was done safely and seamlessly. Keep it up Flint team!”
