Nice little patriotic celebration of the SIF hitting a new high. I get the feeling the summer analysts are enjoying this rally. I still think sticks are frothy.

TU's SIF popped over $8mm today (June 11). Last time we exceeded $8mm was year end, 2021, but we have distributed $647,000 for Finance scholarships and expenses since then. Once again, gloomy Tally seems proved wrong.

SIF RECORD: Tame inflation driven rally on May 15 sent US stocks to records, and the SIF followed suit, breaking the $7.9mm barrier. TU SIF and JP Morgan Private Bank One highlight of the SIF experience is our semiannual pilgrimage to our friend Ginger Kollmann and her Tulsa Private Bank team. This semester, in addition to wise career advice, we arrived right after the annual Energy Paper, named "Electravision" this year. Highlights include: (i) though private and public sector money is pushing the energy transition forward, hydrocarbons will be with us a long time; (ii) renewable energy stocks are NOT growth stocks!; (iii) transition to electric vehicles is slow, in part because cars last a while; (iv) transition is expensive and fraught with quality problems like the sun not shining. Thank you Ginger, Joshua Garrett, Ryan Jeffries, Lee Mahan, Dustin Ripley. You are great business partners.

Congratulations to Tulsa University, the University Challenge winners! Team Tulsa University members Ian Bates, Raegan Beeding, Ileana Braddock, Alisa Grigorieva, and Jackson McKinney. They prevailed against strong competition from the University of Oklahoma, and SWOSU. Team Tulsa University was aided by faculty representative Tally Ferguson. In addition to winning $150 each along with a trophy, the team will advance to the Sub-Regional competition level where they will face teams from the Americas region. Beyond that level, the winning teams will compete in the Regional Semifinals, Regional Finals, and ultimately the Global Final against teams from EMEA and Asia Pacific. Congratulations and good luck to team Tulsa University! The CFA Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics. Each student will be tested on their analytical, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills. They gain real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst.
