Thriving people. Healthy relationships. Peaceful communities.

About us

Tubman is a multi-service agency with over 45 years of experience providing family crisis and support services, formed from the merger of Chrysalis, A Center for Women; Harriet Tubman Center; Family Violence Network; and ElderCare Rights Alliance. Our philosophy is rooted in our namesake and inspiration, Harriet Tubman. Facing unrelenting adversities, she advised others to simply, "Keep going..." Each year Tubman delivers accessible and effective services to about 17,000 people of all ages, gender identities, and cultural backgrounds who have experienced relationship violence, trafficking, homelessness, mental and chemical health challenges, and other trauma. Built on a history of innovation, efficiency, and partnerships, Tubman offers countless ways to help. We provide safe shelter and housing, legal services, mental and chemical health counseling, youth programs, violence prevention, wrap-around services, and community education.

It's Election Day, and Tubman is all about doing our civic duty! 🗳️ We have staff who voted early, voted today, are planning to still vote today, are helping the people we serve get to the polls, and who are serving as election judges! If you're planning to vote today in Minnesota, here are some helpful tips: • Polls close at 8 p.m. If you are waiting in line at 8 p.m. STAY in line; you are still permitted to vote! • Minnesota allows same day voter registration for U.S. citizens 18 years old and up! • To check your voter registration status, find your polling location, and view your sample ballot, visit sos.mn.gov • Voter suppression, harassment, or any other type of intimidation while trying to vote is prohibited. Call 1-866-OUR-VOTE (1-866-687-8683) to speak with an Election Protection volunteer. • If you voted by mail or absentee ballot, you can check if your ballot was accepted at Vote.org • If English is not your primary language, or if you have a disability, you have the right to reasonable accommodations at your polling place, including in-person translation services, e-readers for ballots, and having an aide come with you to vote. Happy voting!

We have been incredibly lucky to have Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan attend events at Tubman and to hear her speak in support of survivors. Thank you for your work to ensure that victim-survivors of violence in Minnesota are believed, supported, and cared for. 💜 "Flanagan has often connected with Minnesotans by sharing tales about her personal life, such as when she recounts what it was like to grow up with a single mom in St. Louis Park who relied on public assistance. And yet for many years, she said, she didn’t feel comfortable talking openly about her family’s history with domestic abuse." https://heyor.ca/7PlrWS
