Congratulations Emine Suong, RN, North 4, on earning a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. A patient nominated her, writing: "Emmy went above and beyond her calling, sensing my fears about my condition, perhaps, making my comfort and pain management a priority, making sure I knew the nature and purpose of my new routines, making me feel like my feelings matter, like the nurse in charge of my care had a personal stake in my recovery." #NursingExcellence #DaisyAward #TuftsMedicineNurses

Congratulations to Toccara Kelow, Unit Coordinator of the Cardiac Care Unit, our latest BEE Award honoree. Toccara's colleagues recognize her exceptional kindness and compassion with patients, family members and staff. "Toccara is all our patients' biggest cheerleader as they walk around the unit getting their laps in prior to transplant or pass by her on their way to CT scan or various other testing. She is always first to be the “DJ”, choosing each patient's favorite music for a walk. For long term patient birthdays, she goes above and beyond to make sure their day is special. She brings in decorations from home to decorate their doors and rooms. Toccara is often the first-person people meet in the CCU and she leaves an everlasting impression." Just months after receiving a heart transplant, Lenny Buisson returns to Tufts Medical Center regularly to support other heart failure patients and their families. During his stay at Tufts MC, Lenny connected with fellow heart failure patients and bonded over their shared experiences. Now Lenny can be seen several days a week making house calls to patients on the transplant list awaiting their call at Tufts MC’s Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) and cardiac step-down units. Two years after his heart transplant, Lenny looks back on the impact of his transplant and all the patients he’s met since. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gEFs3juV

For more than 50 years Paul Chan has played a critical role in Tufts Medical Center’s history. Mr. Chan represented Boston’s Chinatown community in negotiations with the Medical Center regarding its expansion throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. He continues his 50 years of support for Tufts MC as a member of our Governor’s Society, making annual leadership gifts in support of the Tufts Medical Center Fund. We are grateful not only for Mr. Chan’s loyal giving to the Medical Center, but also for all he has done as a community leader to make Tufts MC the institution that it is today.
