Our third and final day of the 2024 Intercity visit in Detroit focused on discussions around economic development and tourism. Leaders from both sectors shared their insights on regional growth, branding and reshaping the city’s narrative. The trip closed with a Chamber debrief to reflect on key takeaways and how to implement those ideas in Tulsa. Thank you to all our speakers, partners, attendees and sponsors! Without you, this trip would not be possible.

Day two of the TRC’s Intercity Visit was inspiring. Attendees started the day at Newlab and Michigan Central Station, where the audience heard about Detroit’s story of transformation. Blake Ewing, chief of staff for Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum, had a formal conversation with three-term Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, and attendees listened to panel discussions on housing and inclusive development and downtown development. The Tulsa delegation also took walking tours of downtown and the revitalized riverfront. From historic preservation to future innovation, Detroit offers a valuable lesson for Tulsa and its continued growth. Thank you to all our speakers and hosts for sharing your expertise! Stay tuned for more Intercity updates.

The Tulsa Regional Chamber’s 2024 InterCity visit is off to an incredible start! A total of 125 Tulsans are in Detroit and learning about the rich history of American innovation. Day one of Intercity consisted of exclusive tours of Fair Lane, the historic home of Henry and Clara Ford, followed by an evening at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. We are looking forward to discovering more insights that we can bring back to the Tulsa region. #TulsaRegionalChamber #IntercityVisit #Detroit #Tulsa

The Tulsa Regional Chamber's Intercity Visit to Detroit began this morning with a walking tour of The District Detroit, a 44-block sports, entertainment, residential and business district that is home to four professional sports stadiums/arenas, the global headquarters of Little Caesars Pizza and the historic Fox Theatre. The tour was full of amazing facts. Little Caesars Arena, where the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and NBA's Detroit Pistons play, is the second-busiest arena in the nation. The exterior of the pizza-themed Little Caesars building is constructed with pizza-wedge-shaped plates of glass that weigh 600 pounds each. Inside the Fox Theatre, which opened in 1928, is a signature wall adorned by the handwriting of such people as Bill Gates, Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton and Frank Sinatra. #Tulsa #Oklahoma
