Meet Michael Thompson, founder of Turas Group. Michael and I have known each other for years. Shortly after Sovereign's Capital invested in EmployUs, we got connected as two local recruiting leaders interested in using business as a force for good. Michael previously ran a staffing business in the DC area and wanted his impact to be more than just… and I’m paraphrasing “helping well paid tech workers become even better paid tech workers” He started Turas Group to redeem the people business. The mission is simple. Much harder to do right. They have built a great business helping mission driven business owners scale their teams, focused primary in the service industry. Ever wonder how Chick-fil-A Restaurants have such an incredible workforce? Michael has helped hundreds of them hire thousands of people. But that wasn’t enough for Michael. Like many of the people I’ve featured, they built a great business doing one thing and applied it to something else. For Michael, he saw an opportunity to help marginalized communities find meaningful work, starting with refugees. While many social impact organizations that are non-profits and begging for donations, Michael has built a sustainable business aligned with their clients and their social impact goals. They get paid helping refugees find jobs — that’s a good thing and more people should follow their lead. Over 14,000 refugees have gotten jobs over the past decade with them.
