Magnesium die castings require lower dimensional tolerances, lower minimum draft angles, and have smaller wall thickness requirements than plastic components. In this example, a market leading medical manufacturer was developing their next-generation ultrasound that needed to be easy to maneuver alongside beds and exam tables for point-of-care imaging. They partnered with Twin City Die Castings for the new design, and it was determined that die cast magnesium would provide the required properties for the electronics enclosure and power supply shield. An assembly of 3 magnesium die castings was designed with thin walls to minimize weight, and successfully provided the portability and durability during transport that was required. TCDC’s senior leadership team participated in today’s Gemba walk at our plant in Watertown, South Dakota. The Gemba walk is a routine activity performed at all three of our plants to gather input from our employee owners, who are the heart of the organization. This management philosophy helps identify current issues and opportunities for improvement, while routinely engaging with employee owners promotes a culture of continuous improvement. #hpdc #employeeowned #gemba

This Goff Spinner Hanger was recently installed in our Monticello facility to support a leading tier one supplier to the automotive industry in North America. It is designed for high production applications where parts can’t be tumble blasted. Castings are placed in a rotating chamber that provides total surface blast coverage, while the opposite chamber is reloaded improving efficiency and increasing output. Blasting is a common deburring method for finishing die castings. It allows for safe handling of product by adding uniformity and creating smooth edges. It also improves the quality of the part by removing loose flash and metal burrs, while providing improved adhesion qualities for plating or coating. The Goff Inc.
