After the upstream intake structure of the Indiana Central Canal became nonoperational due to a dam failure, we worked with Citizens Energy Group to restore it. This critical intake provides 60% of the water supply in Indianapolis, IN. A holistic approach was applied while examining opportunities to restore the water level. After various alternatives were evaluated, a rock ramp was selected as the most forward-looking solution. Learn how rock ramps offer substantial environmental and human benefits relative to traditional low-head dams. These types of dams are used worldwide for flood control, recreation, and water supply needs. https://lnkd.in/e85QeCWS #TYLinConnects #water #watersupply #environment

Imagine a Day Without Water – this became a reality for millions of Americans after Hurricanes Helene and Milton wrecked a devasting path across the southeastern United States, destroying homes and infrastructure and leaving many without power or clean water. These disasters serve as a stark reminder of the need for a new approach to rebuilding, one that is community-centered and maximizes social impact outcomes. They also play a crucial role in raising awareness about the water challenges we face, highlighting the true value of water and the necessity to advocate for water investment – the core objectives of Imagining a Day Without Water. To mark this day, Walt A. Walker, PE, ENV SP, TYLin’s Equity Practice Lead, shares his thoughts on why and how we can build infrastructure that equitably serves each community’s unique needs and is resilient in the face of climate change. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/emR4SvMV #TYLinConnects #ImagineADayWithoutWater #MyDropInTheBucket #equity #infrastructure
