About us

The UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust administers health care benefits for General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford UAW retirees, and their dependents. When the Trust launched in January 2010, it was the largest non-governmental purchaser of retiree health care in the United States, covering over 860,000 members. Since then, the Trust has focused on enhancing benefits to provide every member the opportunity to achieve their best quality of life and ensuring the continuation of funds for these benefits. The Trust has approximately $60 billion in assets which are invested in a diversified portfolio to maintain long-term financial stability for the current retirees who need these benefits today, as well as the approximately 50,000 active workers (and their qualified dependents) who will be eligible for Trust benefits upon their retirement. In addition to a commitment to its members, the Trust prioritizes the well-being of its employees. Recognized by the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) as one of Metro Detroit’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® in 2022 and 2023, the Trust aims to provide comprehensive benefits and foster a meaningful workplace where employees feel respected and valued.
