Dentistry Smiles on Veterans is one of our favorite days of the year! This year, more than 180 veterans received free dental care from the #UBSDM and community-based providers. By focusing on holistic wellness and interprofessional collaboration with other schools at #UBuffalo, we also made a wide range of services accessible to our veterans. Thank you, veterans. We’re proud to give you a reason to smile! 🇺🇸

Congratulations to Dr. Mirdza (Mitzi) Neiders, PM Cert. ’74, who received the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award for the School of Dental Medicine last night. Over her almost 60-year career at #UBuffalo, Dr. Neiders left an indelible mark on the thousands of students, faculty, staff and patients who were lucky enough to work with her. Before her retirement, she established the Dr. Mitzi Neiders Educational Fund for Women Faculty. Faculty who have received the funds have described it as a pivotal moment in their career, a transformational experience, and something that has deepened their love for learning and teaching. To say Dr. Neiders has made an impact is an understatement! To continue to Dr. Neiders' legacy, consider making a gift to her fund. Read more at: http://ms.spr.ly/6040mhOv4

#UBuffalo is welcoming outstanding doctoral candidates to campus this week as part of the Visiting Future Faculty (VITAL) Program, which aims to contribute to the growth of faculty from traditionally underrepresented and marginalized populations in the U.S. This year, the #UBSDM and Department of Restorative Dentistry are delighted to host 2024 VITAL scholar Giovanna Corrêa Denucci, DDS, MSc, a PhD candidate in dental sciences from the Indiana University School of Dentistry! Dr. Denucci's research focuses on erosive tooth wear, with a particular emphasis on non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs). She aims to deepen the understanding of NCCLs etiology, early diagnosis, and clinical management. The UBSDM community has thoroughly enjoyed learning about Dr. Denucci's scholarship and the work she's doing to improve patient outcomes in managing this complex dental condition. 📷: From left: Dr. Simone Duarte, associate dean for faculty affairs, equity, diversity and inclusion, Dr. Denucci, and Dr. Latifa Bairam, interim chair, Department of Restorative Dentistry
