Founded in 1973, the School of Dental Medicine (SDM) is one of the six health sciences schools of Stony Brook Medicine. Renowned for its excellent educational and clinical programs, the SDM is a leader in innovative and technically advanced curriculum, translational research, cutting-edge technology, and in the delivery of oral health care services in its clinical facility, the Dental Care Center (DCC).
The SDM is fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and the New York State Education Department. It provides the population of New York State with highly trained oral health care professionals, contributes to scientific knowledge through its active programs in research, and participates in community service through its programs in continuing education and the provision of dental care to more than 15,000 patients each year.
