Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of individuals of all abilities who continue to overcome barriers and to advocate for themselves and others in creating a more inclusive society. Adam, Hope, and Barbie-- All members of UCP’s Self-Advocacy Council--were doing just that, as they participated in this week’s Family and Self-Advocate Summit in Harrisburg. Join us in recognizing National Disability Independence Day, which celebrates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 1990. By prohibiting discrimination based on disability, the ADA protects individuals in areas of employment, public services, education, transportation, and more. It also ensures accessibility and reasonable accommodations are afforded in public places. Has your life—or the life of a loved one--been positively impacted by the ADA? Tell us how! #DisabilityIndependenceEveryDay #ADA
