The world runs on semiconductors, but where’s the emoji? Celebrate World Emoji Day by showing your support for the #semiconductor emoji. Semiconductors have been making headlines lately, from SEMICON West's appearance on NBC News to the CHIPS Act discussions. These tiny chips are more important than ever, especially with the rise of #AI. So, as we celebrate World Emoji Day on July 17 (the date displayed on the calendar emoji!), let's give a shout-out to the unsung heroes of our digital world: semiconductors! These powerful chips are at the heart of everything from our smartphones and computers to cars, and now AI. They are the driving force of #innovation and connectivity, yet they remain unrecognized in the world of emojis. 🤔 Let's change that! There’s already buzz about creating a dedicated semiconductor emoji, and today is the perfect day to keep it going. The Unicode Consortium, the organization behind new emojis, typically releases new additions each year. This is our chance to advocate for our semiconductor industry emoji. 👉 Share your ideas: How would you use a semiconductor emoji? Comment below and let your creativity flow! 👉 Spread the word: Tag a friend who would use a semiconductor emoji!

At UCT, we commemorate the history and importance of International Women in Engineering Day (#INWED24) with this rare — must-listen — audio clip from the Women’s Engineer Journal. Dame Caroline Haslett was the first secretary of the Women's Engineering Society, and the founding director of the Electrical Association for Women.  Join us as we celebrate trailblazers, like Dame Caroline Haslett, and UCT’s very own #womeninengineering, who continue to overcome barriers to inspire future generations of women engineers. #Engineering isn’t just a technical field, but a force that drives positive change and improves the world around us. The Women’s Engineer Journal has other cool artifacts, too! We invite you to explore it further and check out INWED’s podcast recommendation “She’s an Engineer.”

Reflecting on #GlobalWellnessDay, we're reminded that prioritizing employee well-being isn't just a one-day event—it's a continuous commitment at UCT. Wellness is woven into the fabric of our #workplaceculture—recognizing its impact on individual growth and our collective success. From sharing laughter and creating memories at local events to serving our communities, we foster a supportive environment where employees can thrive. We also provide resources for physical, mental, and emotional health. Our recent wellness seminar, led by industry expert Allison Tibbs, provided OneUCT’ers with valuable insights on work-life balance, stress management, and overall well-being. Rhonda Bennetto attended the session and shared how she's already incorporated Allison's tips into her daily routine, scheduling "do nothing" breaks to stay centered and focused. Let's continue building a #culture of #wellness, every day.
