Our team in London had a big week: A breakfast roundtable on #Culture and #Leadership and a preview of our upcoming study (a 10-year re-fielding of the original study that helped launch UM!) at Weber Shandwick's UNLOCK25 event.
What a great week. On Wednesday we hosted our second breakfast roundtable on Culture and Leadership. Big thank you to Lisa Robbins for sharing the Starbucks story, everyone for the rich discussion, and Claire Jones and the team for making it happen. Big takeaways included: ⚙ Culture needs a systems approach – it cannot be simplified to just values or asking people to ‘change behaviour’ ⭐ Culture needs a north star – a connection back to purpose and strategy that builds belief, emotional commitment and translates into performance 💡 Behaviour change requires a focus on mindset – esp. coaching leaders to overcome their own biases to change and get clear on their style 📏 Measuring culture needs to connect to business outcomes And yesterday we were part of the Weber Shandwick UNLOCK25 event on their research of ‘Me over We’. Jamie Bartlett set the scene with how tech has led to the democratisation of power and heightened the need for authentic leaders. A great panel including John O’Brien MBE ‘The Anthropist’ talked about how 'Me Over We' is playing out in society. Kate Bullinger and I then gave a preview of our Employees Rising: 10 Year Study (coming soon) and had a great discussion with people on how leaders can build trust internally and externally, manage workforce divisions on the big societal and political issues, and empower middle managers to lead.
