Since the beginning of the year, more than 150 new officers have joined our team. Yet another class just graduated from the academy – allowing us to promote nearly 50 officials across our Department.

PROTECTING THE HEART OF AMERICA
About us
The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is a federal law enforcement agency. The USCP safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment. The department protects the federal legislative process, the symbol of our democracy, the people who carry out the process, and the millions of visitors who travel here to see democracy in action. We also protect everyone who visits the Capitol, who can see first‐hand how we work to represent the best of America's spirit and diversity.

Politics were the main headlines out of both political conventions this summer thanks to the law enforcement officers who worked around the clock to keep everyone safe. We are proud of the hundreds of United States Capitol Police officers, agents, technicians and support staff who worked with our law enforcement partners to help secure the RNC and the DNC.

Like father like son! During our recent recruit graduation, Officer Jimmy Santana did something he had waited a long time for. It was time for him to pin a badge on his son, Officer Elijah Santana, who officially began his journey with the USCP. Officer Elijah Santana says "It feels surreal. Growing up my dad was my biggest supporter while I played baseball. Now for the first time ever, we get to be on the same team, wear the same uniform, and support each other. Getting to have my father as a teammate gives me a chance to learn a lot more as I grow within each part of the Department and build a family of friendships just like he did." 💙
