Congrats to the Oak Ridge Housing Authority for an amazing 4th Annual Strong Families Celebration! We had such a beautiful time playing wobble blocks, painting, running the superhero photo booth, and watching so many of our partner agencies handing out awesome swag and sharing their incredible resources! The ORHA team lead by Executive Director Ms. Maria Catron is incredible, and we are inspired by the way this community supports its own! We had a fun day and cannot wait until next year! #ORHA #OakRidgeHousingAuthority #StrongFamiliesInitiative #UWAYAC #UWAC #StrongerTogether #UnitedWeThrive Oak Ridge Housing Authority

Do you know why we celebrate Juneteenth? True or False: Juneteenth marked the official end of slavery in the United States. Answer: False. On June 19, 1865—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation—Union soldiers arrived in Texas to announce that the Civil War was over and slavery had ended throughout the Confederate South. Delaware and Kentucky didn’t end slavery until the ratification of the 13th Amendment on December 6, 1865. Some Indigenous reservations continued slavery until negotiating a treaty with the U.S. government in 1866. As we celebrate Juneteenth today, let’s commit to learning with empathy and understanding others' experiences. We must develop and implement equitable solutions in our problem-solving efforts. By working towards these goals, we can create a brighter, more inclusive future and undo the harms caused by systemic racism. Let's honor this day with celebration and renewed dedication to justice and equality for all. ✊🏾❤️🕊️ #Juneteenth #EqualityForAll #Justice #CelebrateFreedom #Juneteenth2024 #UWAYAC #UnitedWeThrive
