A huge thank you to the Hunger Heroes who generously volunteered their time and energy to scoop, pour, and pack pasta meals as part of the inaugural Day of 200,000 Meals with Palm Beach County Food Bank and Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The goal for this monumental event was surpassed with a total of 240,000 meals packed in just one day! This remarkable achievement not only highlights the power of community but also the significant impact we can make together in the fight against hunger in Palm Beach County.

Earlier this month, our Mentor Center team had the pleasure of attending Xcel Mentoring Network Florida's Trade Expo! This exciting event enabled attendees to discover their passions and engage in hands-on experiences across various trades. Xcel's innovative approach to mentoring and experiential learning delivers exceptional programming that breaks through barriers, ensuring accessibility to individuals who might not otherwise have the opportunity to acquire essential skills needed for a career in a trade or vocation.

Our Executive Vice President of Community Investments, Seth Bernstein, Psy.D., was a featured guest speaker at the Center for Child Counseling, Inc.'s Lead the Fight series led by Shannon Fox-Levine, MD, FAAP, President of the Beach Pediatric Society and Medical Director of Center for Child Counseling. Dr. Bernstein shared insights into the history of mental health support in schools over the past few decades and highlighted research that underscores the importance of early intervention and reaching children before formal diagnosis. Thank you, Dr. Bernstein, Dr. Shannon Fox-Levine, and guest speaker, Dr. Mary Claire Mucenic, Director of Behavior and Mental Health for The School District of Palm Beach County, for bringing awareness to this crucial issue. 📸: Center for Child Counseling

Our staff had the privilege of touring a local elementary school participating in the Weekend Backpack program earlier this month. Weekend Backpacks are filled with nutritious foods and snacks children can take home on Fridays, ensuring they have enough to eat over the weekend. During our visit, we connected with students and the dedicated school staff who make it all possible. We left feeling inspired and were reminded of the incredible impact that community support has in assembling these Weekend Backpacks to nourish both bodies and hearts.

Now, more than ever, the youth in our community need caring adults to guide and support them through their lives by: • Helping them develop self-esteem, academic success, and moral values. • Empower them to resolve current issues and develop coping strategies for the future. • Model a healthy, trusting relationship through clear communication and boundaries. It takes one person to make a difference in a child's life, and you could be that person! Join us this Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Cox Science Center and Aquarium to discover impactful mentorship opportunities in Palm Beach County. RSVP at https://ow.ly/JQnK50TtpVu.
