When it came to the future of the soybean industry, Tom Oswald often asked: “How do we make it better-er?” Tom was determined to put the extra steps, thoughts and efforts forward to go beyond expectation and provide a superior outcome. Nominations for the Tom Oswald Legacy Award are open through November 8. If you know someone who goes above and beyond to move research and promotion investments forward in an unconventional way, nominate them. We want to know them, too. https://bit.ly/3BFUQ7R

Maximizing profit opportunities for all U.S. soybean farmers
About us
USB’s 77 farmer-directors work on behalf of all U.S. soybean farmers to achieve maximum value for their soy checkoff investments. These volunteers invest and leverage checkoff funds in programs and partnerships to drive soybean innovation beyond the bushel and increase preference for U.S. soy. That preference is based on U.S. soybean meal and oil quality and the sustainability of U.S. soybean farmers. As stipulated in the federal Soybean Promotion, Research and Consumer Information Act, the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service has oversight responsibilities for USB and the soy checkoff. For information on the communication standards and guidelines developed by the soy checkoff, visit www.unitedsoybean.org/communication-guidelines/.

This National Seafood Month, USB recognizes the farmers who help feed the fish. We partner with organizations like the Soy Aquaculture Alliance to help expand the demand for U.S.-grown soybeans in domestic aquaculture diets. Soybean meal provides a consistent, healthy and efficient source of protein for fish while being lower in cost than most animal feed. Soy is also a sustainable alternative to traditional fishmeal, helping to reduce pressure on wild fish populations and supporting a healthier ocean ecosystem. Celebrating farmers when we celebrate seafood? Absolutely. It’s all connected. #aquaculture #nationalseafoodmonth #animalagriculture

This National Farmer’s Day, USB wants to recognize the roughly half a million U.S. soybean farmers who play a crucial role in feeding the world and supporting industries like food, biofuels, and livestock feed. Leading the way in sustainable farming practices, their efforts benefit the environment and future generations. As an organization created by farmers, run by farmers and serving farmers, we appreciate your hard work and dedication every day, but even more so today. #nationalfarmersday

It’s National Pork Month, and we’re shining a spotlight on the special relationship between hogs and soybeans. Did you know the No. 1 customer of U.S. Soy is animal agriculture? Not only that, but roughly 16% of all U.S. soybean meal is consumed by hogs. As part of a high-quality diet, it reduces swine stress and enhances animal performance, biology, and gut health. Pork producers know that feeding their hogs soybean meal leads to improved total weight gain and feed use efficiency. It’s a win-win for farmers, producers and hogs. #nationalporkmonth #animalagriculture #soybeanmeal National Pork Board

Post-harvest is a great time to check fields for Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN) and start planning for next season. How can you determine if SCN is in your fields and if so, how large is the population? These state-specific resources can help you test your fields: https://lnkd.in/e8B2npvp #harvest24 #soybeancystnematode

Why is USB so focused on infrastructure and transportation? According to Robb Ewoldt, Iowa farmer-leader: “We’re crushing more and more every day and we need to move that meal.” From lock and dam improvements to dredging the upper Mississippi, this week’s Soy Checkoff Check-in covers USB’s efforts today and tomorrow. https://bit.ly/3zhRiYE #soycheckoff #soybeanmeal

National Coloring Day fact #1. While most people think crayons are just for kids, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh were both known to work in crayon. And fact #2? Soy oil is a key ingredient in some types of crayons and has been for more than 25 years. Who knew crayons were so interesting? #NationalColoringDay #crayons #soybeanoil
