Daphne Boggs, a UMKC Pharmacy student on our Springfield campus, has found a unique way to spend her time outside of class: cleaning other women's homes. Daphne founded the Springfield chapter of the national nonprofit Hot Mess Express, where women volunteer to clean other women's homes, judgement and payment-free. "I feel most fulfilled when I am able to make a difference in someone's life, which is a truth that so many in the healthcare field identify with," Daphne says about her work with the organization. Way to go, Daphne! Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/g95a57wn

Welcome to the new students who took the next step in their education at orientation today! Dean Russell Melchert, Ph.D., looks forward every year to watching student pharmacists hit the ground running on day one. "Our pharmacy orientation is essentially the first day of students' professional careers,” he said. “It's always exciting and fun to guide and watch their professional transformation and development.” This week, students sign the Pharmacists Oath, are trained to give immunizations and get to know each other at events like the orientation fair luncheon.

When School of Pharmacy resident Nicole Gorsuch noticed a health-care gap in her rural residency placement in Charleston, Missouri, she jumped in to action. Thanks to a grant from the Missouri Pharmacy Association, Nicole has been able to provide in-home vaccinations to low-income and homebound patients in her community.
