The #CUDenverEMBA program is continuously evolving to ensure we provide the region's most impactful and relevant education. As part of this commitment, we’re thrilled to introduce a new professor, Adriana Medina-López-Portillo (she/ella), who will be teaching a dynamic new course on Communication.
Her course emphasizes the importance of effective, intentional, and appropriate communication as a foundation for building a healthy, psychologically safe, and high-performing organizational culture. Students will explore interpersonal and intercultural communication, verbal and nonverbal communication, conflict management, feedback, and essential listening and coaching skills. By the end of the course, students will have a heightened sense of self-awareness and the tools to communicate compellingly and confidently at any level within their organizations.
Dr. Medina-López-Portillo has 30 years of teaching experience and curriculum development, and 18 years of experience as a trainer, facilitator, and consultant in leadership, emotional intelligence, communication, cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is a published author and a tenured professor. She has taught both graduate and undergraduate classes at the University of Denver, the Metropolitan State University of Denver, Goucher College, the University of Maryland College Park, and the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
She has designed and led workshops for higher education, not-for-profit, governmental, and corporate clients in the United States and abroad (Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, India, China, Singapore, Dominican Republic, Canada).
Dr. Medina-López-Portillo is also the founder and CEO of Pangea Coaching and Training. As a transformation and leadership coach for women, Dr. Medina-López-Portillo helps her clients thrive professionally and personally.
