Dr. Shelley Nuss, campus dean of the AU/UGA Medical Partnership and founding dean of the UGA School of Medicine, has been elected to Mastership status in the American College of Physicians. Those elected to Mastership must demonstrate excellence and significance of his or her contributions to the science and art of medicine in areas such as research, education, health care initiatives, volunteerism and administrative positions.

Morehead Prominent gastric cancer researcher Yana Zavros has been announced as The University of Georgia's inaugural Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) Eminent Scholar in Molecular Medicine. She will be UGA’s 18th current GRA Eminent Scholar. Zavros will lead UGA's new School of Medicine’s research enterprise and help to recruit additional faculty researchers.

Dr. Shelley Nuss, campus dean of the AU/UGA Medical Partnership and founding dean of the UGA School of Medicine, was named the recipient of the 2023 Lamartine Hardman Cup from the Medical Association of Georgia. One of the highest honors from the Medical Association of Georgia, the award recognizes a physician who has solved a problem in public health or made a contribution to the science of medicine, including but not limited to excellence in the field of medical education. https://lnkd.in/erHh4gEW

The UGA School of Medicine recently hosted a town hall to connect with members of the local community and discuss future partnerships and the role the School of Medicine will play in the community.

Scientists in UGA’s Regenerative Bioscience Center tackle medical challenges and develop cures and treatments for devastating diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and stroke. Using knowledge from regenerative abilities found in nature and the human body, the center is making life-changing discoveries.
