It was great participating at the Community Harvest Health Fair in Baltimore County. We met amazing people who were also tabling at this event. It was our first time to to screen Baltimore residents for their risk of obesity and offered free consultation to those who needed help. Unraveling Obesity, Inc.

What is the right answer here? 🤷♀️ Compounders are suing the #FDA to take a medication off the shortage list so they can continue to provide #GLP1 (at a profit of course). It is a tough one to assess. Patient access in a shortage is a good thing ✔ Lower cost is a good thing ✔ But what precedent is being set? If a medication is expensive and someone else can make it cheaper just because, do we let them? There is a lot of chatter (and potential data) around how IRA may slow innovation. The Frederick County Community Health Fair was a success. We screened people (at no cost) for their risk of obesity and offered free consultation to those who needed help. For those who were high-risk, we made direct referrals to obesity-certified specialists. Many visitors also came for other health screenings offered through Frederick Health, West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and Hood College. We emphasized to everyone we met that obesity screening is just as important as all the other ones because this medical condition is multifactorial and leads to many complications. Stay tuned.
