Today is #PurpleThursday, when we wear purple as a simple way to raise awareness about domestic violence. #UARKEngineering is in! Did you know? According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, each day an average of 20,000 calls are placed to domestic violence hotlines nationwide. In Arkansas, 40 percent of women and 35 percent of men experience intimate partner physical violence, sexual violence and/or stalking in their lifetimes. Awareness is the beginning. Let's end domestic violence.

Led by Dean Kim Needy, the college’s second Collaboration Summit with leaders in workforce and economic development, housing, higher education, government and others was a huge success, and the college’s leadership left invigorated by the possibility for meaningful collaborations with our partners in South Arkansas. While we think of different areas of the state as having different issues, we have discovered much common ground, especially surrounding challenges with attracting and retaining talent and finding creative ways to address housing and health care needs. Monday’s event shows how the College of Engineering is a leader in the state with a serious focus on our land grant mission to educate our citizens and help drive the state’s economy. It also highlights the numerous collaborations with both internal and external stakeholders that will be necessary to improve the quality of life for Arkansans. People are listening and we believe we are creating a groundswell of action. Many thanks to our participants and presenters for your time and attention! 👏 Charles Robinson | Deven Daehn, MS | Ross DeVol | Duke McLarty | Nelson Peacock | Darren Lingle | Vinson Carter | Leah Cheek | Michael Daugherty | Ben Gilmore | Bart Hester | Jeff Amerine, PMP | Bill Lansden | Startup Junkie | Runway Group | Heartland Forward | Heartland Whole Health Institute | Groundwork NWA | ARise | Emory Solutions | University of Arkansas - College of Education & Health Professions | University of Arkansas - Sam M.
